Bowl Games Galore!

Christmas excitement may be over, but the college bowl season is ramping up! Today (Wednesday, day after Christmas), we’re bleedin’ purple for the TCU Horned Frogs, as they square off against Cal in the inaugural Cheez-It Bowl, which is one you’ll want to have plenty of snacks for – we may not sell those yellow cheezy squares, but we have lots of great munchies at each Harder Concepts location, so if you plan on watching that snacktacular football game (which kicks off at 7p), we encourage you to drop by one of our spots and catch it on our bank of big screens.

Of course, the Cheez-It Bowl is not the only game on Wednesday – Boston College and Boise State get into it at the First Responder bowl at 12:30p, and Minnesota and Georgia Tech play in the Quick Lane Bowl (kicking off at 4:15p). Thursday’s bowls include Temple and Duke in the Independence Bowl at 12:30p and Wisconsin and Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl at 8p. On Friday, there’s the Music City Bowl with Purdue facing Auburn at 12:30p, followed by Syracuse and West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl, and Iowa State and Washington State at 8p in the Alamo Bowl.

Saturday’s a big bowl day: Florida and Michigan play in the Peach Bowl is at 11a. Also at 11a: the Belk Bowl, which pits South Carolina against Virginia. At 12:15p, Nevada faces Arkansas State in the Arizona Bowl, and then we have the two college football playoff semi-final bowls: the Cotton Bowl is at 3p, featuring Clemson and Notre Dame, and the Orange Bowl at 7p, where ’Bama faces Oklahoma.

We get a day off from college football bowls before resuming on NYE day with the Military Bowl at 11a, where Virginia Tech takes on Cincinnati; and the ever-popular Sun Bowl, featuring Pitt and Stanford at 1p. Then there’s the Redbox Bowl, with the Oregon Ducks attacking the Michigan State Spartans. Other bowls on Saturday: the Liberty Bowl (Missouri and Oklahoma State at 2:45p), the Holiday Bowl (Northwestern and Utah at 6p), and the Gator Bowl at 6:30p, in which North Carolina State tries to take down Texas A&M.

For casual football fans, that might seem like an adequate number of college football games, but there’s still lots more – the first day of 2019 kicks off with the Outback Bowl at 11a (Mississippi State and Iowa), and the Citrus Bowl, where a trophy cup full of grapefruit, limes, lemons, tangerines, oranges, cuties, tangelos, yuzus, and ugli fruit will be  awarded to the winner of the battle between Kentucky and Penn State. If you want to party on New Year’s Day, we suggest getting’ down during the Fiesta Bowl, which features LSU and University of Central Florida fighting it out at noon. Then there’s the legendary Rose Bowl; at 4p, Washington and Ohio State kick off what is sure to be a memorable game, and if it isn’t, there’s still the parade, right? Finally, the last bowl game before the National Championship Game is at 7:45p on January 1, when Texas and Georgia face off for the right to call themselves the Sugar Bowl Champs.

We hope to see your faces behind some pints of craft beer for one or a few or even all of these games! Hooray for football!

New Year’s Eve Parties!

Believe it or not, there’s more to this time of year besides college football – the end of the year has crept up on us like a mom who likes to startle her kids when they’re totally engrossed in playing with their new toys, and as such, we are throwing a big, bangin’ New Year’s Eve party: Ringo’s Pub and Scruffy Duffies are teaming up for a bash that features a free champagne toast at midnight, party favors, and your favorite jams courtesy DJ Reewind. This two-bar party has one cover, so hit us up on Facebook for details!
